History
HISTORY OF JAMIA
1857 AD is a very important year in Indian history. Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last king of the traditional Mughal Empire, was arrested by the British, imprisoned in Rangoon (Burma), tortured and murdered. Thus ended the Mughal rule. The end of Muslim rule in India was written. And in the year 1857, all Indians, regardless of caste and religion, united and fought for the liberation of India. This was the first Indian War of Independence. In this the Ulamaperu people played a great role. Countless ulama were martyred in this war. It’s a long history. At the beginning of this battle, the British were badly defeated, but they quickly recovered with the weapons they had. Thus the outcome of this battle was reversed. Mughal rule was over.
In this case, religious education centers and the light of faith began to fade. Anti-Islamic forces such as Christianity, Hinduism, etc. started making efforts to ensnare Muslims in their nets in various forms. As the Muslim states became weaker and weaker, the situation in the northern and southern parts of India was deteriorating. Little by little the number of talented alums dwindled and religious education stagnated. So Muslims started being blind about “Deen”. Alims were decreasing in the Madras province of that day which was made up of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. However, there were no facilities for learning even though some of them went to a few Alims who were here and there. There was no opportunity to read the books thoroughly or to learn an art thoroughly. It was able to learn only a few books. So the condition of the Madras province of that day was losing its luster day by day in the matter of religion.
It was in such a perilous situation that by the grace of God the Southern Mujaddid, the benefactor of education, the social reformer, Annal Alah Halrat Allama Shamsul Ulama Shah Abdul Wahhab Qadiri (RA) devoted himself completely to protect the Muslims and protect the Holy Islam from the hostile forces.
1274 Hijri with the foundation of piety by the grace of Allah, In 1857 AD they started Madrasa Baghiyatus Salihat. The reason for the formation of this art gallery was the dream of plucking the fruits from a tree and sharing them with people with his own hands. For 12 years from 1857 to 1869, he ran a madrasa at his homestead. When the number of students increased, they shifted to the porch of the mosque and ran there for 6 years. By his own efforts and with the help of his adoring friends, Hazrath managed without a management committee for 25 years. As the madrasah grew and expanded, the assistants of the madrasah also convened the devotees of the madrasah on 4th Rabi’ul Alwal 1299 Hijri (4th February 1882 AD) for consultation. It was decided in the meeting that the activities of the Madrasah in future will be done as per the advice of “Majlise Shura”. This academy was started in a separate building in the year 1292 Hijri (1875 AD) and by the grace of Allah, it has been going on continuously till date.
Contributions of Jamia
Due to its constant meritoriousness, thousands of rich descendants of Bakiyath have spread all over the world and served the religion and this society and added distinction to this Madrasah. Apart from being engaged in high tasks such as religious propaganda, , teaching, writing, establishing religious education centers, giving religious judgments, they have served the country and the general public through fields such as politics and economics.
Muhammad (pbuh) was the shining light that showed the straight path to this world which was drowning in the darkness of ignorance. Ala Halrat Abdul Wahhab showed light to this southern country, which was derailing from the steady path of religion. May Allah shower goodness on all the devotees who have entered into the bosom of this Bhakiyath founded by Shamsul Ulama Aala Hazrath and are spreading the nectar of education! Amen
